Kansas Student Entrance Requirements

Kansas law requires the following:

  • To be considered for a slot in the State PreK Program, a child must be four years of age on or before August 31 of the year in which s/he enters preschool.
  • Age verification in the form of a certified state birth certificate (official birth certificates are secured from the capitol of the state in which a child is born).
  • Proof of a physical examination less than one year old must be provided when a child enters a public school for the first time.
  • Students must provide certification of immunization from a licensed physician. This may be obtained at the City-County Health Department at 619 Ann Avenue.  Required inoculations will be confirmed by our school nurse.  Required immunizations for school entry are:
    • 4 doses of DTP/DTaP/DT
    • 3 doses of Polio (IPV/OPV)
    • 1 dose of MMR
    • 2 doses of Hepatitis A
    • 3 doses of Hepatitis B
    • 4 doses of Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib)
    • 4 doses of Pneumococcal conjugate (PCV7)
    • 1 dose of Varicella (chickenpox) recommended – this is NOT required if child has had chickenpox disease AND disease is documented by a physician signature.  Without a physician signature, vaccine is required even if you believe your child has had chickenpox disease.
  • Any student not complying with entrance requirements may be suspended from school until requirements are met.
